“The importance of cooperative learning in the educational
process “
Cooperative
learning is an approach which aims to help students work together in groups in
order to achieve a common goal. When it comes to teaching, there are different
methods or strategies that a teacher can use to make the whole class
participate. One of these strategies is called cooperative learning which
enables students to work in small teams even though they have different skills.
Working in pairs helps them to learn from each-other and they are responsible
for helping everyone in the group. That means that they will interact,
socialize and achieve goals as a whole team. This is an effective approach to
be used in a classroom where diversity exists. Working in groups means that
each student has the possibility to feel involved and that can lead to
motivation and high self esteem. Likewise, working in groups can lead to
critical thinking, creativity and communication; which are part of 21st
century skills. Developing these skills means success for students. For this
particular reason is important to incorporate cooperative learning as part of
the teaching process in order to facilitate learning and achieve important
goals !
