Multimedia, Cooperative Learning & Multiple Intelligences; their role in the teaching process !

Hello everyone 😄

The topic of this week was about multimedia, cooperative learning and multiple intelligences. Before I start discussing about the importance of multimedia projects in classroom, I would like to emphasize the definition of it; in order for everyone to know what does it mean and what is its role. Multimedia is the use of several media to present information. It may include: photos, videos, sounds, texts, graphics and animation.

Every teacher should use multimedia in class. Imagine presenting a project that contains only texts? Sounds boring right? Well, in fact it is. The teacher should use every form of multimedia; not only videos or photos but a mix of them( sounds, videos, photos, animations) and so on. In this way pupils or students become more interested about the new lesson. This attracts their attention and makes them focus even more.

Multimedia projects play an important role in the effectiveness of teaching. These kinds of projects help students to interact with each-other, solve problems, express their knowledge and so on. While working with these projects, students learn the value of teamwork and how to develop their communication skills.

When it comes to teaching, there are different methods or strategies that a teacher can use, in order to make the whole class participate. One of these strategies is called cooperative learning which enables students to work in small teams even though they have different skills. Working in pairs helps them to learn from each-other and they are responsible for helping everyone in the group. That means that they will interact, socialize and achieve goals as a whole team.

I mentioned previously that students have different skills and according to the lecture, I learned that there are 9 different types of intelligences ( naturalist, intrapersonal, interpersonal, existential, verbal/linguistic, logical/mathematical, visual/spatial, musical/rhythmic and bodily/ kinaesthetic). That means that students may have different intelligences; some of them may be good at music, other ones at pictures, natural world, sports, writing, reading and so on.

As a future teacher, I will make sure to understand the skills of my students and to find out what type of intelligence they have so I can give them tasks that they enjoy doing the most.

That was all for today. Thank you and please feel free to comment your opinion !🤗

  1. Hi Sara 💖
Your post is really interesting and very eye-catching. I'm very glad that you wrote about these three topics and covered them very clearly. I agree that multimedia plays an important role in teaching , because lately students want interesting things to be included in conversations and participate in lesson. It is also very important that you mentioned topics such as cooperative learning and multiple intelligences because they play a major role in learning the lesson. In the end, what I liked the most was the fact that you gave a personal opinion as a future teacher and also the fact that you are very positive about it. Great job 😘

  2. The emphasis you put in each term makes it easier for the reader to get the clear definition and later on you move with the explanation and examples . That shows some good teacher's skills right there in the way you have structured this post . I appreciate the fact that you even mentioned the types of intelligences and the way students should work into groups so they all can excel in a way or another , we are different so the group work will make them built a friendship and have fun , while learning more about their own capacities and abilities.
